Arguments

Post here to talk about our arguments.  As mentioned at the meeting, it looks like the Novice aff is in pretty good shape (Carty and Rachel should describe in the other entry the T definition that was missing).  The Security K looks good as well.  Erika will be working on an alternative to the cap K, to be used against affs that don't link to Securitization (it may be Ruralism-related).  And Tessa will be working on a Reinstate the Draft CP, perhaps with a Ruralism DA net benefit (or something Ruralism-related).  Finally, Erika will be forwarding answers to Agamben.  Please use this read to discuss any other new ideas or arguments we need to answer.

Novice Questions

So now that you've been to a tournament, debated 6 rounds, beaten some experienced teams, lost to some others, and learned a lot, you must have questions.  Please use the comments section of this entry to ask those questions (hopefully, at least five per debater).  They can be about arguments, debate procedures, tournament issues, or anything else.  Coaches and senior debaters will answer these questions pretty promptly.  Please submit your questions (everyone except Andrew and Nina who debated at Binghamton, plus those who haven't debated yet) by noon on Tuesday, September 24.  That will give us time to plan to address some of them at the team meeting on Wednesday.

Neg Round Reports

Please use the comments section of this entry to enter round reports for Negative rounds.  The 2N should do the round report.  You should include tournament name, division, round #, opponent's team code (like Army BS), judge's name, the affirmative's advocacy (plan, advantages, or equivalents), the negative's advocacy (what we ran), what the 2NR went for, other pertinent arguments, and the judge's reason for decision.  Feel free to also comment on the reports of teammates.  Coaches will also be commenting, with the goal of developing an agenda for improvement that moves us toward our goals and tries to ensure that we (almost) never lose to the same argument twice.  Round reports for Binghamton should be recorded here by noon on Monday, September 23 (you can do them at the tournament on Sunday morning, or compose in the van on Sunday evening and upload later).

Aff Round Reports

Please use the comments section of this entry to enter round reports for Affirmative rounds.  The 2A should do the round report.  You should include tournament name, division, round #, opponent's team code (like Army BS), judge's name, affirmative we used (most often this weekend standard WVU Novice aff), the negative's advocacy (what they ran), what the 2NR went for, other pertinent arguments, and the judge's reason for decision.
